My Jars Didn't Seal! What Happened?


I have refrigerated the jars that did this.

Have you experienced canning jar liquid loss? But when you pull the jars out, the headspace is different and it looks like the canning jars leaked! Are these still safe to reprocess or do they need to be thrown away.

Lids very hard to remove even though I think they are not sealed.



However, if the jars and their contents seem fine now, they are safe to reprocess.

Description: If the jar is too full it brings the food with the air to the top of the jar and it starts to over flow even though the lid and ring are on the jar.

Remove the band and lid, and check the top of the jar for nicks.

We lost 15 quarts of canned peaches which had successfully sealed and were placed on the canning shelves.

You can prevent this simply by carefully looking over your jars before filling and canning.
